Ways To Save Energy

Saving energy is very crucial. Saving energy means saving money! Here are some simple ways you can save energy and money:

1. Raking the leaves- Rake leaves instead of blowing them off with gas/electric powered leaf blowers.
2. Use a manual can opener- Using a manual can opener can save a small amount of energy but can build up to a great amount.
3. Unplug electronics not in use- Some electronics draw energy even when they are turned off.
4. Only wash the dishes when the dish washer is full- It seems to me it is a waste to just wash half the dishes. Wait until it is completely full.
5. Use CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs)-CFLs last a lot longer than other light bulbs. This will eventually save you an immense amount of money.
6. Carpool- Ride with friends instead of riding by yourself. It will save 2x the amount of gas. (Gas in non-renewable. We need to conserve as much as we can)
7. Turn off the lights when not in use- There is no need in wasting energy on lights we're not even using.
8. Start a Green Group- A Green Group is a group that helps with the environment and plans ways to help the planet.
9. Turn off the water when brushing your teeth-That's a lot of water being wasted. Think first.
10. Take showers, not baths- Taking showers saves a ton of water than taking a bath. Make sure you don't take too long of showers.
11. Don't make a lot of flyers- Just make a bulletin board or post it on a blog if it's important.
12. Turn off all parts of the TV- Make sure the TV is completely turned off. This is often over-looked. Double check if your not sure.
13. Get a planner/calender- Don't waste notes on events your going to attend. Just write it down on your planner/calender. (Also try phone reminders. Set a reminder on your phone)
14. Buy water by the gallon- Don't waste water bottles, just pour a glass of water instead, or use your refrigerator.
15. Replace electric with manual/solar- By doing this daily, you can save a great amount of energy over time.
16. Use emails instead of letters- You'll be saving a lot of time and trees by doing this. Email is much faster than your mailman.

Be wise, these ways to save energy could save you some money and help our planet. Aren't they simple? Saving energy doesn't have to be complex. Many small ways can mean big things.
